Tarlac State University strengthened its commitment to quality education and skills development through a new partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.

Two memoranda of agreement were signed on February 21, 2024 at the College of Education AVR, marking a milestone in the university’s continuing efforts to link academic learning with practical and industry-based training.

Leading the ceremony were TESDA Regional Director Toni June Tamayo, TESDA Provincial Director Emely Tesoro, TSU President Dr. Arnold E. Velasco, and COEd Dean Dr. Jasper Jay Mendoza, together with the faculty members of the college.

Through this collaboration, TSU and TESDA will offer Community-Based Training (CBT) programs open to the public. These programs aim to equip participants with essential and in-demand skills in cookery, bread and pastry production, commercial cooking, and other technical fields. Successful trainees will receive certificates of completion.

The partnership also provides valuable opportunities for TSU students, particularly those enrolled in field study and teaching internship courses. They will gain hands-on experience in food and service management and industrial arts at TESDA-accredited partner institutions. Students will likewise benefit from access to TESDA’s online learning materials and laboratory facilities to strengthen their practical skills.

During the signing, Dean Mendoza introduced the college’s key officials and discussed the credit transfer initiative, which aims to align academic achievements with industry standards.

Supported by RD Tamayo, this initiative ensures that students are well-prepared to transition from university to professional practice.

“This partnership is a testament to our commitment to prepare and equip our students for the world of work, nationally and beyond,” Dean Mendoza said.

In his message of support, Pres. Velasco highlighted the importance of collaboration in promoting accessible, relevant, and high-quality education.

Dr. Grace Occasion, TESDA specialist, also introduced TESDA’s key officials and expressed their dedication to ensuring the success of the partnership.

As TSU continues to uphold its legacy of academic excellence and TESDA advances its mission of national development, this partnership opens new opportunities for learners and communities, building a skilled, competent, and future-ready Filipino workforce.
